More female change rooms and late-night play in West Vic after cash boost
Reserves in Mortlake and Timboon share in $600,000 funding.

Half a million dollars from the state government will go towards a new women and girls change facility at Mortlake Recreation Reserve.
The $500,000 will be added to $250,000 from Moyne Shire Council and more than $140,000 raised locally. The $890,000 pledged will cover the cost of the change rooms. There is no timeline for when the work will start, or be completed.
Since 2018, more than $2 million has been spent upgrading the reserve.
Supporting women’s sport: Mayor Jordan Lockett said the facility would help remove barriers for women and girls wanting to play sport.
Lights up: Corangamite Shire secured nearly $97,000 for new lighting at Timboon Recreation Reserve, allowing expanded use of recently upgraded netball and tennis courts.
Mayor Kate Makin said the funding would strengthen the role sport plays in community life.
Timboon Recreation Reserve committee secretary Leeanne Whitehead said the grant would allow the final stage of the town’s courts project to be completed before winter.
Simpson Recreation Reserve is also expected to undergo a million-dollar upgrade after receiving a state grant last month.
