West Vic is known for delectable, cool-climate wine. Lower temperatures mean slow-ripening, and a huge burst in flavour.

Wayward Winery 

Situated on the edge of the Pyrenees and a dormant volcano, Wayward Winery creates equally top-shelf wine and food. Producing pinot noir, pinot gris, chardonnay and shiraz varietals, the kitchen also utilises an Argentinian grill. You can enjoy the minimalist interior, or step into the sun for country and mountain views.

Passing Clouds Winery 

Operating since 1974, almost every Daylesford local has a story that involves a bottle of Passing Clouds. Situated in the lush greenery of Musk, the vineyard is a peaceful escape that also serves lunch made with local produce. 

Highlight: Nueva Grenache

Attwoods Wines 

Attwoods is off the beaten path, but well worth it. Nestled in the forest, this winery feels like a holiday from reality where the only view is kangaroos. Their cellar door is award-winning, and an excellent spot for a luxurious lunch at the restaurant, Le Bouchon at Attwoods.

Eastern Peake Vineyard 

Eastern Peake produces scrumptious wine that is a popular boutique seller to restaurants around the country. They have been growing their own grapes since 1983, and the winery remains family driven. The next-generation, Owen, also launched LATTA, a negociant wine label. 

Highlight: Grenache 

Where is it: 67 Pickfords Rd, Coghills Creek 

Black and Ginger Wines 

This spot is a true, unpretentious gem sitting at the base of the Grampians. The dream-child of two friends - one with the surname Black and the other ginger-haired - Black & Ginger was formed after many late-night camping trip conversations. 

Today, the winery creates bold, adventurous wines, often working with alternative grape varietals that keep things interesting - although their classics taste just as delicious. 

Highlight: Vermentino 

Where is it: 3447A Ararat-Halls Gap Rd, Pomonal 

Blue Pyrenees Estate 

This gorgeous spot has French origins, having been originally purchased in 1963 by Remy Martin, famous at the time for making Cognac brandy. 

Today, it retains its beauty as a wonderful spot to end a weekend drive.

Wombat Forest Vineyard 

This vineyard feels like an enchanted forest getaway, with the trees of the Wombat State Forest surrounding the property. Winery owners Deidre and Brendon Lawlor are almost around for a chat, about both the wine they serve and the vibrancy of the surrounding spa country area they grow in.
