At least four stores have been damaged in a Cobden arcade after a fire broke out in a tobacco shop in the town’s main street.
What’s going on: The Country Fire Authority confirmed twelve firefighting vehicles responded to reports of a fire on Curdie Street at 6:11am on Wednesday (October 28).
A spokesperson told the Brolga crews discovered the tobacco shop “fully involved in fire” and reported the fire under control by 7:44am and safe by 11:26am.
“Due to the nature of the structure, like an arcade, multiple shops – at least three – were impacted either by smoke or fire,” the spokesperson said.
Ongoing crime scene: Victoria Police are treating the fire as suspicious and confirmed an arson chemist would visit the site.
