The shortest day of the year is fast approaching - so too are a bunch of local events across West Vic to celebrate, so we’ve put together a list of Winter Solstice events on this weekend across the region.

Winter Solstice High Tea Fundraiser
The South West Healthcare Warrnambool Auxiliary is hosting its annual Winter Solstice high tea to raise money for a chemotherapy treatment chair for the Warrnambool Hospital's oncology unit. A raffle will also be drawn on the day.

Warrnambool Solstice Search
Back for its fourth year, the Solstice Search Party is a family-friendly event featuring live music, food vans, arts and crafts, as well as the ceremonial burning of a fire effigy.

Winter Solstice Fun Run
The Portland Winter Solstice Fun Run is back for 2025. It incorporates three challenging and scenic distances at 9, 15 and 25km, which you can run or walk, as well as an Irish Mad Mile event and a free 1km Kids Dash.
Where: Various starting points around Portland
When: June 22, bib collection from 7am, courses close at 12:30pm
Price: $30-$80 depending on the run length
Port Fairy Winter Solstice Swim
The Port Fairy Winter Solstice Swim is a fundraiser for the Port Fairy Surf Life Saving Club. Take a dip in the icy morning water and you’ll receive a free Milo and barbecue breakfast, which you can enjoy by the toasty fire drums.

Dunkeld Winter Solstice Night Bonfire
Community studio and cultural hub Off The Rails Dunkeld is hosting a bonfire event to commemorate the Winter Solstice. Attendees can look forward to mulled wine, warm winter feeds and live music. Don’t forget to bring along a chair and a few of your own drinks.

Keayang Maar Vineyard Winter Solstice Party
DJ and comedian Andrew McClelland will be on the decks for Keayang Maar Vineyard’s Winter Solstice Party, with Vietnamese food vendor The Streeterie, local wine and a fire.
